PERFORMANCES, APPEARANCES and COMPOSITIONS
On October 27th, I was privileged to be a part of a celebration in recognition of those who have donated their time, talent and treasure to OASIS over the past year. A lively crowd filled the local Mennonite Church for the event and I shared tracks from my latest CD, performed a few numbers, and spoke a little bit about my time at OASIS.
I am happy to announce that I have been awarded my 18th consecutive annual grant from ASCAP, and long-time friend and frequent collaborator Claire Roth, was the recipient of her sixth award as well.
Recently I received an email from Gonçalo Lourenço, director of the ensemble Coro Odyssea in Lisbon, Portugal, announcing the group's concert repertoire for the next three years. The Eternal Ring, featuring a text by frequent collaborator Claire Roth, has been chosen for the 2009 concert series. The group has an absolutely beautiful sound, and you can listen to mp3s of some of their work by visiting their website at www.coroodyssea.com.
COMMISSIONS
I've begun work on two new accordion commission, one duo and one ensemble, one of which will be a medley of African-American spirituals. I hope to have both completed as soon as possible.
RECORDING PROJECTS
My third recording project, Flowers in Winter, was officially released October 21st, 2007. Packaged in an environmentally-friendly, retro-style jacket, the CD is selling for only $10 plus postage. You may also order directly through CD Baby.com. Single will are available from my SnoCap store, hosted on my MySpace page, and it is my hope that the album is available through iTunes as well as other digital distributors.
To my great excitement, I finally received a copy of Chris Dale's radio programme 'Elaine'. The soundtrack is comprised of pieces taken from the album Seasons of the Heart, and unlike his last production (which used music from my first CD, and a play by 'History Boys' author Alan Bennett), this one features an original script by Chris. He has given his permission for me to include excerpts from the programme on my website; these excerpts will soon be available.
