The commissioned composer for 2000 is Jane Ellen, from Albuquerque. She has published many student level piano pieces, and quite a few choral works, one of which was premiered by John Clark and the UNM Concert Choir last fall. She has also written music for orchestra and various chamber groups. Her composition for orchestra, "Dancing in Deep Heaven," was performed in England at a festival celebrating the works of C.S. Lewis, whose trilogy, "Out of the Dark Planet," inspired her music. Jane, who is a member of PMTNM and AMTA, teaches piano and lectures of many different subjects for OASIS, and other groups. I know her composition will be a work of excellent quality.
