This rumoured-to-be final effort from Ernst (say it isn't so!) would make an invaluable addition to anyone's library of recorded Americana. The Road to Richmond is an unbelievably large collection of 25 songs which includes: patriotic songs, love songs, minstrel songs, jigs and reels, spirituals, Stephen Foster songs, and even the famous West Point tune "Benny Havens,O!" If you can only buy one of this spirited reenactor's CDs, start with this one. It covers the widest breadth of material and offers a sampling of all that Jerry Ernst does best. You'll find yourself checking the date on your calendar after spending 71 minutes immersed in this musical treasure.
