Dear Friends,

This is merely a brief note to reassure you that my new album, Flowers in Winter, will indeed be released next month (October 2007). Despite the fact that I’m running desperately behind schedule, things are starting to come together, and I’m becoming very excited. Ken Battat was in the studio last Friday to lay down percussion tracks on two pieces, and once again, I was utterly blown away by the enormity of his gifts and talents. Despite carrying a heavy studio workload, Sid Fendley is once again doing all he can to accommodate me and to make my life easier, not to mention his invaluable input throughout the effort. Ed and Susan are always there for me as well - with a smile, a joke, an overly large mug of coffee, or a bit of chocolate; it’s beginning to feel like this album is turning into a collective effort by the entire staff at Mountain Road Recording!

I hope to publish another newsletter in two weeks, at which time I’ll be able to share the final release date, where/when the CD will first be available, and when/how orders can be taken. Also at that time I will share a bit about the album and let you know what you can expect.

Yesterday, I was pleased to receive word that I have been awarded my 18th consecutive annual grant from ASCAP, and long-time friend and frequent collaborator Claire Roth, was the recipient of her sixth award as well.
