January 2005: Due to an internet-wide disinterest in website awards bestowed by individual webmasters, the JEOW WebDesign Excellence Award has been discontinued. Congratulations to the 34 previous winners, and best of luck to those of you continuing to seek out award programmes.

AWARD CRITERIA
1. The purpose of the "WebDesign Excellence Award" is to recognise those sites which demonstrate excellence on the web, be it in design, content or originality, at any stage of development. It is given solely at my discretion and therefore, cannot be applied for. The award will be given to any site, musically oriented or not, that I deem worthy. Above all, these are sites which have made, and continue to make, the web a better place to be.

2. The award includes a link from my site to the winners' sites, hopefully encouraging others to visit these unique sites. I neither require nor request a link back from any of these sites; therefore this is not a "self-promotion" award, or a "working the web" award, but a true award recognising talent, creativity, inspiration, and hard work.

3. The only qualifications I have to give this award are my own acquired tastes and the understanding of the many hours it takes to put together a worthwhile site. I do not claim to be an expert in any field of webdesign; however, after five years of designing personal pages as well as pages for hire, I know what I like and why I like it.
