Colorama
by Ann Cragg
The smoky haze of autumn
And frost silver in the morn --
Flocks of wild geese flying south
Over golden shocks of corn;
Pumpkins yellow on the vine --
Orange persimmons – what a treat!
The rich dark green of cedars
And the scarlet of bittersweet;
The reds and golds and russets,
The orange, the shaded brown --
Changing colors of the leaves
Before they start to tumble down;
Nature's paint brush hard at work
Before Old Winter's icy chills;
Nothing is more beautiful
Than Missouri's autumn hills!
